For your waxing appointment, it's best to wear loose-fitting, breathable clothing like a dress, skirt, sweats, or relaxed jeans. A dress or skirt is ideal, especially for your first time, since you won’t need to fully undress, which can make the experience more comfortable.
Be sure to opt for cotton underwear to allow your skin to breathe after the wax and reduce irritation. The goal is to wear something that minimizes friction and keeps your skin feeling comfortable post-treatment.

At Melt Parlor, have the option to wear your bathing suit (dark colored preferably), you can go topless with only bottoms or you can go nude during the actual spray tan. We can also provide you with a disposable thong if you would like one (are required by the FDA.)
If this is your first time getting a spray tan with us, we suggest having some type of tan line (and not going nude) so that you have a clear “before and after” area to reference after your tan. Male guests are required to wear bottoms of some sort.
How do I prepare for my waxing service?
Here are some first-time tips to keep in mind to make the most of your waxing service and maximize the best results.
Ditch the Razor!
Do not shave for 3–4 weeks before your appointment. We know that sounds like a long time, but trust us, it’s worth it! The hair should be at minimum ¼ of an inch in length to be waxed. The length of a piece of rice for example.
Is it going to hurt?
You will experience some discomfort specifically at your first Brazilian appointment. Prepping your skin leading up to your first appointment is imperative in order to have your best hair removal experience. During your first appointment we are removing about 85% of your hair growth in its active growth phase. After your first Brazilian wax, your next appointment will be a breeze! To stay on schedule, pre-book your next appointment in 4 weeks from your first appointment. For Sugar Brazilians we recommend 3-4 weeks between appointments. This allows time for you to go through a complete cycle of hair regrowth resulting in a smooth wax.
Can you get a Brazilian wax when you’re pregnant?
It’s generally considered completely safe for pregnant women to get waxed during pregnancy. With those hormones kicking in, your hair might be growing faster than ever. Plus, with that baby bump, reaching certain spots can be a challenge. We’ve got you covered! *if any questions, consult your physician.
Can you get a Brazilian wax or Sugar Brazilian if you're on your period?
Absolutely! As long as you’re wearing a fresh tampon or menstrual cup then you are good to go.
Post Wax Instructions
If this is your first Brazilian wax, you may notice a few stray hairs or very short hairs at the surface of the skin afterwards. This occurs because your hair grows at uneven lengths and are on different growth cycles. Getting regular Brazilian waxes will over time cause your hair to grow back thinner, weaker, and sparser.
Avoid the sun and tanning beds for 24-48 hours.
Skip saunas, swimming, and sweating at the gym for the next 24 hours.
Wait 24-48 hours before engaging in any sexual activity that includes friction.
Keep your clothing loose, avoiding anything tight or constricting for the next few days. Cotton panties are a must!
Wait 48-72 hours before exfoliating. Gently exfoliate 3 -4 times a week, in the shower using an exfoliating glove or a sugar scrub.
Your waxer will recommend home-care products that best suit your skins needs.
Airbrush Tanning FAQs
Airbrush Tanning FAQs
What do I need to do to prepare for my spray tan session?!
We recommend that all waxing, shaving, and nail services be completed prior to your tan. It’s important to exfoliate your skin well and avoid having any lotions, oils, deodorants, perfumes, or makeup on when you arrive for your appointment. These can create a barrier on your skin that will prevent the tanning solution from being applied properly. Remember that you cannot shower, get wet, sweat or apply any lotions for 8 hours after your appointment. Please bring loose fitting/dark colored clothing to wear out of the salon as tight clothing can lead to uneven results.
What do I wear during my spray tan session?
It is 100% up to you and your comfort level. If you do not want tan lines we recommend that you tan nude. You can also wear thong underwear or even a bathing suit if you would like to. Anything you do keep on during your session will get some solution on it, but it washes out of most fabrics, but we cannot guarantee that it will.
How long will my tan last?
Generally your spray tan will last anywhere from 5-7 days, but that depends on your skin, physical activity, and after care. You will have the best results if you follow the aftercare tips we will give you. If you would like it to last a couple days longer than usual, we offer a tan extending moisturizer that works great.
Will I look orange after I get a spray tan?
Our technicians are trained on every solution we offer and how to formulate a solution to your skin tone for the most natural, even looking tan. Whether you have very fair, dark, or olive skin, we have something just for you.
What should I wear right after my spray tan session?
You will want to wear dark colored, loose fitting clothes. You will be dry when you leave your session, but tight fitting clothes could possibly smear your tan while it is developing. We recommend flip-flops or loose fitting shoes. For the best results; no jeans, tennis shoes, or boots. If you have an event to go to that you will be wearing a strapless or backless top, it’s best to not wear a bra out of your session, or wear a strapless bra afterwards. If you have leather seats in your car, the cosmetic bronzer that you will have on your skin could possibly rub off onto them; therefore it is best to bring an old towel to sit on for the ride home. The solution will wash out of clothing most similar to cotton.
Can I work out after my spray tan session?
You have to stay dry for 8 hours after your spray tan session, and that includes sweating! We recommend you refrain from working out until after the 8 hours and after your first shower.
Will the solution come off on my sheets if I leave my spray tan on overnight?
The cosmetic bronzer you will have on for 8 hours has a slight chance of rubbing off onto fabrics, but it washes out of most fabrics similar to cotton. We cannot guarantee that it will wash out so we recommend sleeping on an older pair of sheets for the first night just in case
Should I get my hair, nails, or wax before or after my spray tan session?
All other services should be done before your spray tan session. Manicures and pedicures could mess up your tan since hands, feet, and legs usually soak in hot water and are exfoliated during those services.Waxing could take your spray tan off in the areas you get waxed, even days after your tanning session. If you would like to book a hair/nail/wax appointment right before your tanning session that would be best.
What if I mess up my spray tan?
Your technician will go over after care instructions during your first appointment and you will be given a print out to take home with you. Soon after your session, if something happens and you have a mess up, call the salon and we can advise you on the best course of action. Sometimes a mess up can be fixed by coming back into the salon quickly, but we recommend that you go home and relax after your session and let your tan develop fully.
What if it’s raining the day I get my spray tan?
Be advised that if any water or rain comes in contact with your tan within 8 hours after your appointment it will greatly affect the overall results. We highly recommend for you to bring loose and covering clothing and close toed footwear to wear out of your appointment. Most importantly please do not forget an umbrella!
Can/should I use sunscreen after my spray tan session?
The spray tan solution does not protect from sunburn, so if you are going to be in the sun, we recommend using sunscreen. We recommend only lotion sunscreen because the alcohol content in a spray or aerosol sunscreen can make your tan fade fast and splotchy. We offer sunscreen at the salon that works great.
Can I apply self tanner after my spray tan session?
We suggest that you don’t apply one while you still have your tan. Our technicians formulate the solution used on your skin in order to make your spray tan customizable to your skin tone. Self-tanners apply a certain shade of color that might not match well with the solution that was used. We do offer a tan extending moisturizer that will work great and prolong the life of your tan.
